Designed by children in consultation with playground experts,
then built by members of the community who volunteered their time,
strength and vision to make it a reality, this is a sure hit. There is even
a separate area for smaller children. If that’s not enough, there are
trees to climb nearby, and interesting plants. Alameda Park is one of
the oldest parks in the city, and its gazebo is built in classic Spanish
style, on the other side of Santa Barbara Street, where mariachi bands
played in days of old, and sometimes still play today.
If you have plenty of time on your hands, you can cross
Micheltorena Street and explore Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens.
